Last downstairs house window (dining room) going away

some more fun

Well as you know, or should know, Keith is waaaay in to hobbies. He loves doing stuff. His latest "must have" a 2012 Trident 13 angler Kayak. He drooled over you tube videos for weeks. He thought for sure I would get it for him for his birthday and while I had ordered it 2 weeks prior he didn't get it until Valentines day. Kyle wanted the same one so I let him in on it and the monday after his birthday but before V-day Kyle Brianna and myself covertly drove down to Sacramento to pick up the kayaks from a place that carried "factory second" kayaks. Basically a perfect kayak but the decal was a little messed up so they dropped the price by about $400. Sweet. We got lost, twice, on the same road. yeah sad. But it was a fun day. Sneaking around and lying to Keith. We stashed them at our wonderful Realtor's house, since she lived close by, had a huge empty garage and a truck and was kind enough to help us out. The next evening, Keith still totally in a bad mood that he didn't get the kayak for his birthday, was surprised when Felicia came by to "drop something off for Naomi" and "ran over something and was hoping Keith could check her tire" And there were the kayaks, he didn't put it all together at first but soon did and Kyle came jumping out of the bushes (he had "gone to the gym" but really over to Felicia's to help load up the kayaks) He was stoked to say the least and to see Kyle had one too! They have already been out about 4 times and we have already eaten crab they got with the kayaks. so nice. Here are a few pictures of when he first got it:

13 feet of awesome

getting the feel for it =)

Down Stairs Half Bath

So while its not 100% done its like 85-90% still needs a little more paint on the ceiling and probably touch ups as I have never done a ceiling and its kinda tricky... but not... but it is... but not?? yeah that's how I feel about it too. It also needs a little decor and the rubber trim stuff that goes along the bottom of the cabinet. and the cabinets and doors need to be painted or finished painted. But, like the rest of the house, it's coming along so well and looks awesome.

There was sheet rock repair and then we just re textured the whole place, re floored it, painted it, put up a new mirror, new light fixture and kept the clear ducky toilet seat haha. Gotta keep something to remind us of how the house "use to was". And replaced the old window with the new one. Not too much say so take a look:

re flooring

new floor..... with all the scraps.... dang should have gotten a cleaner picture for you.

Oh yeah heres the funny thing: for one their paint job was horrible and two they didnt remove the mirror to paint. So the light section on the left is what was under the mirror. The really funny thing about it is it was just a shade off of our signature "oyster" color from Kelly Moore. It probably was the "same color" just from a different company hahaha you could barely tell the difference when I painted over it. That color had just a little more gray to it than ours. still so funny, dont know why they would paint it the creamy poo brown they did, yuck!

Still prepping...

In!

Painting the door and cabinet doors white

Mirror and new light fixture. Mirror was ours from Fresno and the fixture was $35 at home depot, simple and classy

Kind of hard to see but this is a picture of the ceiling after being taped off and papered. If its still confusing look at the next picture, its the same shot just after one coat of paint. I tried to get them side by side but it wasnt working. the pictures were too big and if it shrunk them they were too small. dang o well. check it out.

Bye-bye creamy poo brown, hello "swiss coffee"

My Kitchen is DONE!!!! for now ;)

Yes, yes I finally have a complete, functioning kitchen!!! Mainly because we had our first bank inspection and the kitchen HAD to be done haha but I'm stoked. I think boys work better with a dead line and they have been working! (and if you don't remember or didn't catch my last blog when I say "boys" I mean Keith and Kyle, Kyle showed up 2 weeks ago and it has been awesome to have him here living with us for multiple reasons) Last time I blogged the kitchen needed to have some of its sheet rock fixed, sheet rock painted, counter in, sink and garbage disposal in and working, dish washer in and working, slider framed in and cabinets finished. Lots to do and its all DONE! The funny thing is just about all of it is going to get torn out when we remodel the kitchen haha. But anyways, Sam started the sheet rock, Kyle finished it, I painted, Keith and Kyle got the counter top in, Kyle got the sink and everything working and did framing around the slider and Keith painted the slider. The sink was by far the craziest with cabinets slightly different than the old ones, crappy saw blades, dirt, bugs, old nasty stuff ugh. Kyle and I were completely grossed out and laughing all at the same time. I could sit here and tell you the play by play and try to think of clever sentences to amuse, but instead I'm just going to post pictures. Since there is still more to blog about.... =)

first piece in.....

second getting attached....

aaaaaaand there in!!!

When it gets quiet and your toddler isnt sleeping you better go find them. No that's not flour thats sheet rock powder... for some reason we couldnt keep her out of it, thankfully she didnt really eat any just played in it.

getting ready to put this huge sink in, we were able to reuse the one that was already here. When removing the faucet dozens of baby pincher bugs came pouring out. soooo gross! and then the dishwasher catcher thing had old food in it super yucky gross. Thank YOU Kyle for being the man and handling all that for me!

getting ready to cut the sink hole out

Yeah all that smoke... not suppose to happen. And the sparks that you cant see in this picture also- not suppose to happen... some adjustments were made when the cabinet was fixed that caused some difficulties for putting the sink in but it all worked in the end.

as you can see the sink is in and fits.

getting ready to paint

so here is the slider, sheet rock done, painted but still not framed...

Alla-Ka-Zam! framed and painted! if it were only that easy haha. The picture doesnt do it justice but this door is sooo amazingly gorgeous its stupid! It makes the kitchen and every time I walk in the kitchen I just love how it turned out and it just makes the rest of the kitchen look fantastic!

My fully functioning kitchen, with window sill even though you cant really see it in this picture.

The bank inspector came and everything went well as far as we know. He had come out to see the property before we bought it, apparently, needless to say he was impressed. He kept saying how horrible the house was and its nice to see it coming back to life. And really this house is becoming something awesome. I am finally getting those new home owner happy feelings since up until recently this house has been just a bunch of half done projects and using that tiny, tiny wet bar sink for a kitchen sink just sucked but I am finally walking around my house and simply happy. I'm sure the 70-75 degree weather we have been having the past few days has helped too and the fact that on monday we got the part that fixed the TV and we have been watching movies every night lounging around on our HUGE sectional just like I imagined. It's hard not to smile. Life is always good, even when it sucks, but sometimes there is no denying just HOW good life is. (I just want to add I don't say these things to brag or rub noses or show off I'm just keeping record and sharing with those who care to read about our Rusty house. It's a lot of work and we have been so incredibly blessed with everything and have learned so much from this whole process and not just construction wise. We truly thank EVERYONE who has been apart of this project with us.)

past days happenings

Well its been a good few days. Kyle showed up thursday night, nicely enough that he showed up JUST in time to help carry in grocerys haha. Naomi of course instantly was all about him, asking to be held, jumping on him, smiling, calling him, wearing his shoes, giving him ni-night kisses before bed, simply so excited to see him and on and on. Short of it is: she loves him. I think it's adorable. Friday morning sheet rock in the kitchen was finished. Friday afternoon counter top in but no sink hole, there fore no sink, no garbage disposal, no dish washer... BUT more counter space. very nice. (pictures to come when the previous items are done) Saturday was Keith's birthday. He didn't have to go to work, it was sunny and warm, his best friend was with him, he fixed some things on his car, he was invited to do a drift demo that was AWESOME, hung out with a bunch of friends and then home to an adorable daughter filled with the best and biggest hugs ever! Only downers: hes another year older and the knowledge that were too broke to get the kayak hes been drooling over for days. literally every chance he gets hes you tubing the stupid thing. Sunday off to church and then our first house party. It started out as just the Souza family coming over. Then Keith invited his buddy Josh and his filly. Then only Justin could come over because Aedan woke up feeling icky. Then when Josh and filly came over they had another couple with them that we weren't expecting. Good thing I had taken extra burgers out. Just enough for everyone to have one. We had Teriyaki Burgers with sauteed onions, criss cut, regular and sweet potato french fries and to top it off cookies and cream ice cream cake. YUM! I know youre drooling, its ok. I do have to say Naomi was the center of attention. Between talking about feeding the chickens corn, telling the mean, nasty rooster to stay back, FOP! what ever that is, some crazy hair, sitting with everyone, perfectly answered questions with yes or no to make everyone laugh and straight up going to town on the whip cream frosting she had everyone nearly in tears from laughing. I love that little girl.

Well its late and were all tired. Pictures of the kitchen and possibly the family room coming soon!

working for the weekends? nope, working ON the weekends

Well this past week has been a long one. Twice this past week Keith needed to work the night shift. Which you might think nice! He'll have all day. well yes but no. He worked his normal shift I believe Wednesday, then came home for a few hours then BACK out to the coast that night. Came home around 1030 the next morning, on about 2 hours of sleep. Then had to go back and work that night, sleep another 2 hours then work another 8 hour shift. Needless to say his sleep schedule was waaay off, when he did sleep it wasn't for very long and on top of it his back has been killing him! Cant wait for our new-used bed in a couple weeks! So not a lot got done on the house as help and supplies weren't available either.

Friday afternoon our contractor, Mike, calls me up and says were coming over tomorrow morning! (him and one of his guys and my dad) What time works better for you 8 or 9? 8 or 9?! 8 or 9?! ugh how about 11! haha obviously we went with 9. Well, while it was tough it was good motivation and things happened. Rot issues were addressed in the front pillar and the chimney area AND the 5 foot slider became a 6 foot slider. Walls cut out, slider put in and walls put back?? I dunno you can see in the pictures. I also was able to paint the last remaining cabinets in the kitchen, under the sink and next to the stove (while the girl slept). Oh and speaking of painting we decided to go a head and paint the family room a couple days ago. It was a sea foam green and will soon be the same oyster that it is through out the house. I only painted 2 walls and they still need to be cut in but its happening. I think either during tomorrows nap or Monday's nap I will paint the other walls and then Keith said he will cut in, but who knows maybe ill try to do it. eek! Wouldn't that be crazy? I do have to say, when I first started painting it was kinda really sad... but I think I might be improving =) !!!! I dunno, Im excited since I don't really contribute any other way at least the thing I am able to do I am actually able to do half way decent. Oh yeah and PS today was GORGEOUS!!! perfectly warm and everything probably around 70 not too hot but so nice!!! Going to keep it short, here are a few pictures of the days adventures:

Ok not from Saturday but I think it's a fun shot, I had JUST unrolled this rug that my mom had and instantly everyone was on it. Naomi was "swimming" on it and in this shot Dio jumped on the rug JUST as Ozzy shook and it startled him so he's in mid jump haha. I love this crazy family!

Marcos cutting out above the slider, not sure why off hand but apparently it was needed.

Everyone helping to put the "support beam" (don't know what else to call it)

Look in the previous picture there was about a foot of wall on the left hand side, now there isn't!

Not the greatest shot but new slider is in and working nicely :)

My cabinet that I painted

The doors I painted on the front yard grass in the warm 70 degree February sun, HA! seriously?!

Working on some rot
